I've got the bug that's been going around. Several people have already been out with it, I went to the office and about four people were waiting for their parents to pick them up 'cause they were too sick to stay at school. And then, Friday afternoon, I got it.

At least we have a clinic on campus now. A few years ago, we didn't. And we had just one nurse for both campuses. But her office was down the street in the elementary school, so the little kids had somewhere to go lie down when they got sick. Junior high and high school kids had to deal with it until the day was done or until a parent can come.

It sucks, 'cause we're leaving for TETA this week and I need my voice to audition!

And I was sick yesterday, but I had a hair appointment and I had to go, 'cause it was get my hair done then or have yucky hair for the audition. It's not fun getting your hair done when you're sick. And then I had to get my eyebrows and lip waxed. Which hurt like hell. I looked like i had an allergic reaction to something.

And now here's why I am quite unlike most teenage girls/women:

I hate shoe shopping.

I will fight against going to a shoe store unless shoes are an absolute necessity. Mom wanted to go shoe shopping yesterday, but I was sick and fighting it, so we went home instead. My opinion on shoes is this: I only need four pairs of shoes: Sneakers, flats, flip-flops, and one pair of dressy shoes.

I have quite a lot of shoes. Plenty of them are heels or dressy, and they would go with plenty of things. I don't feel it's necessary to buy a new pair of shoes for every separate occasion! Besides, I don't want to wear heels on stage or anywhere, really. They mess up my blocking, I can't run in 'em, and I wobble so bad I feel like I'm gonna snap an ankle any second.

But it feels like for nearly every single show I've been in, I've always ended up in heels. And after the show my poor feet are all sore and blistering and I can't walk in flats for a while.

Ladies, high heels are of the devil. I'm sure of it. I'm sure they were invented by a man, because no sane woman would create something so stupid and painful.

I'm gonna go putter around and find something for lunch.
